Instagram Color Combos in one Bedroom Two Ways

The other day on instagram, I called for color combinations that people like but don’t see enough in design. Funnily enough, we recently presented two version of a bedroom that use two of the palettes: Green and Coral and Navy, Aqua, Teal, and White.

The clients are incredibly fun and the design brief was 70s Tropical Luxe. (Pretty sure a cheer went up in our studio when we heard that!) For the bedroom we are planning to wallpaper in a bold tropical print and use matching fabric ripplefold draperies to cover sliding glass doors, creating a wild and cozy cocoon when the curtains are drawn. It’s a lot of look, so we tempered it with clean white nightstands and solids in the bedding and accents, and brought in natural texture in the rug (coral version) and on the ceiling (blue version.

Green and Red are opposite on the color wheel, making them complementary. Coral of course is red-orange. Using complementary colors is balanced and dynamic. Opposites attract, yes?

Blue is a perennial favorite. As with green, most shades within the color family work together. Here our wallpaper/fabric has both teal and aqua on a navy ground, making it easy to pull those shades into our rug, lamps, and bedding.

Fun, right? What other color combos are you crushing on?
