Design Books for Every Occasion: Staying Home a Little Longer
Between Spring Fever and the pervasive hopefulness of Covid vaccinations, everyone is itching to get back to their lives, see friends, and get out in the world. I am hopeful that we can all hang on a little longer and keep our wits about us until it is truly safe to return to normal.
In the meantime, here’s a great book for “discovering the world in other people’s houses.” Author Wendy Goodman is the long-time design editor of New York Magazine. While we stopped subscribing a couple of years ago, my mother-in-law still gets it and shares all the design columns with me on a regular basis. I was delighted when Goodman came out with this book a couple of years ago, offering a glimpse into both extraordinary homes and the homes of extraordinary people.
It’s a fabulous little escape, a virtual change of scene—no mask required.
As a side note, Michael Boodro recently interviewed Wendy and her sister Tonne, a fashion editor, for the Chairish podcast. It’s a wonderful listen, especially if you are interested in stories of coming up through new york or the glamorous world of Magazines (which, obviously, I am!)
