Get the Look: Global Traditional Bedroom

Mixing styles in a space allows for flexibility and the ability to change the feel by adding accessories of one style with furniture pieces you might already own of another. Julia and Mark’s bedroom mixes global patterns with tradition furniture shapes to create a unique feel. In this Get the Look, I pulled together accessories similar to the ones we used in their bedroom that transformed the feel of the space.

The star of Julia and Mark’s bedroom is the handmade Suzani coverlet that brightens up the room and brings in a global feel. Similarly, this Suzani Quilt from Etsy does just that in its own unique color palette. There are also throw pillow options if you prefer not to go so bold on the whole bed, but bring in an accent instead.

The Mandvi Saffron Pillow draws the yellow from the Suzani quilt in a global pattern while the aqua Bettie Pillow pulls a more traditional color and texture into the space.

Bedside books are great for a read just before bed. At Home and Timeless Interiors are two books we chose, inspired by the global traditional style of the bedroom.

If you are looking to add a traditional furniture piece into your space, this Maison Open Nightstand is perfect. Using it in a dark stain brings contrast and balance into the bold colors of the quilt.

A ceramic lamp like this Langley Pattern Ceramic Lamp brings in a traditional, small scale pattern, allowing you to layer different patterns.

Placing a bench like this Lorraine Storage Bench at the end of your bed adds functional storage and seating while presenting a new place to bring in another textile. The olive tone brings another color from the Suzani Quilt in a Traditional shape.

Adding a mirror above the bed like this Arden Mirror opens up the room and brings a metallic accent.

These Rabun Stripe Panel Curtains with this Lea Jofa Avignon Tape Trim add another layer to the room without taking away from other strong elements. Adding tape trim to retail curtains adds a custom element without the cost of a fully custom piece.

I hope this Get the Look sparked some creativity and will inspire you to add some pieces to your own space to change the feel! More of Julia and Mark’s house can be found here.
