Heather's Wish List

I often think of myself as being “sort of all over the place,” but as it turns out, in some ways I am VERY consistent. Take these wish lists: I’ve been doing them for about a decade and the formula is similar every year. You’ve got your design books (natch); you’ve got your handmade jewelry (this year from the same designer as last because they are my go-to everyday earrings and I would love to expand my options.) You’ve got your smallish yet splurgey item for the home and your out-of-reach pie-in-the-sky leather jacket. And then for good measure, an item that signals a lifestyle change I am toying with. (this year: peloton. Other years: puppy; land rover; etc.)

The good news is, I am extremely fortunate to want for little and to be in a position to buy myself what I need.

So let the annual wishing begin!

Clockwise from top left:

I flip flop on wanting a lamp for my kitchen island. It’s impractical because the island is such a drop spot, but our kitchen could use some oopmh. This mixed-material option from CB2 is practically a piece of sculpture, and who could resist that quirky shade?

True story: my love for Missoni is so long-held and commonly known, when my parents went on a tour of Europe they hit up the Missoni factory and brought me back a scarf (which I still have.) A couple of years ago I realized my dream of a Missoni stair runner. But how much Missoni is enough Missoni? I’m still far from knowing the answer. These hand towels for my primary bath would help.

Talk about consistent: these sneakers are a latter day version of the suede-and-metallic Nikes that my husband gifted me for my birthday almost 18 years ago. I still have (and love) those, but I could use a new neutral option and prefer a non-white sole. These would be great for photoshoots (and weekends.)

Veronica Beard leather dickey jacket in rust. Full Stop. (And even more unattainable than last year’s select—which I still covet.)

My team will tell you I am a DISASTER when it comes to notebooks. I either have six going or none, and I am prone to grabbing the closest piece of paper (or paper-like material) to jot a note or make a quick sketch. No receipt, envelope, or correspondence from the IRS is safe. But once upon a time, a client re-gifted me a notebook from Appointed (with her monogram!) and I used every. single. page. Possibly even in chronological order. When it was all used up, I went to order another and was too cheap to pull the trigger. I would go for the denim-y blue (because jeans go with everything), grid pages, and a serif monogram with my business initials.

Apple watch. Hermes double-tour band. Holdover from last year but now I have an iphone and think I’m ready.

Ann Erickson earrings. Any and all of them but these are my current favorites. Hand made, lightweight, easy to wear. Super special but great for every day. Obsessed.

There was recently a little game of musical chairs at my house, and Clio ended up with a beanbag instead of a proper reading chair (and Clio is a huge reader). Now I need something large scale and unique that Clio can curl up in. Also needs to transition in two years when Clio goes to college and this room becomes Eleri’s. Super into this rattan number that feels vintage but is new.

Ideally I would reupholster the chair, but for now: throw pillow.

Peloton bike. Have been considering this for many moons. A client recently asked me if I had tried one and if I like spin class. No and don’t know; never been to spin class. My process is weird, there’s no question. But my hairstylist said I should get it, so what more do I need to know?

I heart Ulla Johnson fabrics and all the incredible details that go into her clothes. I will take either the Mina or Sage (or both) of these blouses please.

And last but certainly not least, this year’s cadre of design books: British Designers at Home, James Huniford At Home, and Design Secrets.

What’s on your wish list this year? Stay tune to see what the rest of the team is hoping to find in their stockings.
