Heather's Wish List 2023
If I’m being honest, I don’t deserve to make a wish list this year. This was the year that I bought what I needed, and also a lot of what I wanted, without remorse. It has been delightful to tackle a refresh around my house that has led to really fun furniture and art purchases. Basically, my cup is full and I am so grateful.
But isn’t it fun to dream a little anyway?
Almost nothing here is affordable, which I guess is what makes it a Wish instead of a Purchase.
Clockwise from top left!
Because I am living proof that you can never have too many fab lamps (though my husband might disagree!)
Smeg x Dolce and Gabbana limited edition toaster
I actually do need a toaster. This colorful one would look AMAZING against my soon-to-be-green painted cabinets!
I bought all the design books I wanted this year, but somehow I missed this one.
I have 100% hit my limit on pitchers, both at home and at the studio. And yet…one in each size, please!
Vintage guitar and lute light/ sculptures
Duh
We are delighted to be placing a piece by this Minnesota-born artist in a local project and I can’t help but want one for myself! I love any art with textile motifs, and the rich colors and luxe pattern of this large-format photograph are totally arresting.
Bought some at Nickey Kehoe in LA last year without even looking at the price tag. Those made their way to a client; ready for my own! (And I honestly don’t even burn candles, like, ever.)
The table I bought for $100 on Craigslist for the studio some 6 years ago had already seen better days when I bought it. I don’t technically need new chairs (of any kind, ever!), but…. how AMAZING is this set?
Recently got rid of the martini glasses we registered for and received as wedding gifts 18 years ago. They were gathering dust in the basement! BUT how cute are these floral stems? Reason enough to bring back cocktail hour. Maybe a French 75? I am for sure doing the one step forward, two steps back thing here.
Splatterware bowls: enamel versus ceramic
Okay, I actually do need cereal/soup bowls to go with my vintage stoneware plates. Loving the green splatterware motif but can’t decide between the practicality of enamel and the earthiness of ceramic. Either way, I’ll need a set of 6-8 please!
The price is crazy but it’s reversible, so….two coats for the (extremely high) price of one? A bargain!
Floor pillow and lumbar pillow
We opened up a ton of floor space in the living room, so…lets fill it up again but make it soft.
The lumbar might look great in our primary bedroom—I’ll know more when the fabric goes up on the walls. Shall I report back?
A need not a want. Obviously.
I have been searching (and searching….and searching….) for a mirror for my powder room. This ceramic one from Dumais Made is gorgeous, special, and actually kind of too small…But inspirational. I will take something vintage, tramp art, shell-encrusted, burlwood, inlaid, plaster, ceramic (etc!) preferably in a medium size, somewhere around 20x27!
Seriously, I will reiterate how lucky I am to have what I need, and plenty of what I want as well. Maybe this list leads to some inspiring rabbit holes, and gives my mom a few gift ideas for my birthday, if nothing else!
