Project Spotlight: Piedmont, CA
With so many longer-term projects in motion, we have longer gaps on sharing fresh content, but we have been very very busy and wanted to share what we are up to! We have added “in the Works” projects to our Featured Projects page on the website. Since they are essentially moodboards, designed to give a general flavor of the project, I thought we would give a little more context here on the blog.
This project is a beautiful large Tudor outside San Francisco. The clients are a fun, young family who wanted to loosen up a little, having previously lived in a Victorian that was quite traditionally decorated.
We started from a place of refreshing some spaces and graduated to full-scale decorating throughout the home. The clients love color but wanted to avoid the blue-and-red combo that was predominant in their previous home. On the main level alone we have a light blue sectional, orange day bed, yellow settee, salmon curtains, and plum bench! To ground all the color we have a number of black pieces and natural tones and textures (bamboo, raffia, grasscloth), and sophisticated tribal motifs thread throughout the house.
As often happens with projects that develop over time, we got more and more adventurous as we went along. (I love building trust through the process and watching clients gain confidence in their taste. In this case, the LAST thing we did was paint the 2-level center hall a deep Farrow and Ball plum. It totally changed the mood of the entrance and made all the spaces opening off of it look amazing. People are surprised that I often do paint selects last but this is exactly the reason!)
This project also has many of my favorite things: vintage furniture, original art (Even a commission!), custom rugs, global pieces, and plenty of wallpaper.
Can’t wait to get out to California to shoot this project and share the transformation with you!
