Victorian Meets Modern

Originally developed by Australian architects for their son, this house marries a traditional San Francisco Victorian with a modern addition on the back.  The house has a clear split down the middle and the design challenge was how to blend the two.  We created a diagonal motion up through the house, with the most traditional elements being inside the front door and the most modern—a Kelly Wearstler square print wallpaper and sculptural concrete desk—capping the space on the third floor. Several years after completion, we were thrilled to work with these clients on a house in Tahoe. Check out Alpine Meets Pop!
